A feast of grief, fags and finger-food. Presented as part of Midsumma at La Mama: a Midsumma Premier Event.
|
A visual spectacle of song and dance, garnished with fresh live music. The Pineapple Sorrows is an absurd tragi-comic new work exploring the lives of those left behind brought to you by new Melbourne Theatre Company - crossditch.
In the wake of a wake one platter remains, three hors d'eouvres remember - The Pineapple Sorrows. An aspargus roll, the lover: a white bread crust and a pickled heart, nursing the secret bruises of a raw new love. A cocktail sausage, the best friend: teetering on the edge of the table with an itch that she just can't scratch. And a devilled-egg, the mother: her once creamy centre now curdled with a bitterness that sugar cannot cut. All three deal with the untimely loss of Pineapple - the centre piece of their plate bound lives.
