Midsumma Of Love

Hair tells the story of a group of politically active, long-haired hippies living a bohemian life in New York City and fighting against conscription into the Vietnam War. The musical is renowned for its profane depiction of the use of illegal drugs, treatment of sexuality, irreverence for the American flag and the controversial nude scene.

The musical broke new ground in musical theatre by defining the genre of "Rock Musical". The show has a strong effect on everyone, and acts as a bridge between generations and viewpoints. Phenomenal musical numbers include 'Aquarius', 'Good Morning Starshine', 'I Believe in Love', 'Hair', 'I Got Life', 'What a Piece of Work Is Man' and 'Let The Sun Shine In'.

StageArt production company are kindly donating a percentage of ticket sales to the Learning for life autism centre.

Please Note: Hair contains nudity, adult themes, smoking on stage and coarse language.

  • Same Same, 8 Feb, Jayman28 - "Midsumma has brought Victorians great works of musical theatre in its twenty-five long history but none like the Broadway and West End sensation of Hair."
  • The Age / SMH, 4 Feb, Cameron Woodhead: Half-mocking Hair offers full satisfaction - "This Midsumma revival has high production values for independent musical theatre. It looks great: the costumes and wigs are full of paisley-inflected, stagey, half-mocking nostalgia."
