Gasworks Arts Park has been a prominent Midsumma venue for four years, with an incredible variety of performance, visual art and community events every year over the course of the festival. Situated in Albert Park and only a 15 minute tram ride from the city, with two theatre spaces, two gallery spaces and four hectares of parkland, there's ample opportunity for anything from dance, cabaret, drama, and spoken word to exhibitions, parties and conference-style events. For 2010 we have space in a Gasworks-produced program of events open for negotiation, as well as availability for straight hire of our venues that are able to accommodate potential season limitations due to our own programming. We are always open to a broad range of styles, although past seasons have featured strong transgender, lesbian and ethnically diverse programming, and the odd bit of music theatre to round it out!

The Gasworks Theatre is available for single events or limited performance seasons, seating up to 220 in a flexible general admission space that combines raked rows and cabaret seating.

Our intimate Studio Theatre can accommodate up to 70 patrons in flat rows of moveable general admission seating, although risers can be brought in to form a raked bank.

Visual artists may also be interested in either the Angela Robarts-Bird Gallery, which is a dedicated gallery space featuring white walls and polished floorboards, or the Theatre Foyer, which is a high-traffic, multi-purpose space with three out of four walls dedicated to exhibition space. Both spaces can also accommodate smaller events and functions depending on requirements.

Visual artists should express interest to Sarah Rainbird, Gasworks’ Visual Arts Manager,
t: 03 8606 4206 or e: sarah@gasworks.org.au
All other expressions of interest should be directed to our Venue Coordinator, Maria Griffin
t: 03 8606 4205 or e: maria@gasworks.org.au by 5pm, Thursday 20 August.

More information and links to floor plans and theatre technical specifications can be found at here.
