Queer Melbourne’s biggest event, Carnival, is once again opening the Midsumma 2010 Festival. Held in the Alexandra Gardens and made possible thanks to the support of our principal partner, the City of Melbourne, Carnival is the showcase of all the queer culture that's to come over the following 3 weeks of Midsumma!
The Greyhound and Market bars are on hand to quench your thirst and of course a variety of food vendors will satisfy every hunger.
And if you're still salivating? Well then our entertainment line up has
something for everyone and will no doubt fill the void. As Carnival winds down at around 6pm don't despair, because you'll be able to dance the night away, or just chill out with friends, at the 2010 T Dance.

Check out 2010 Carnival Highlights for a few of the highlights coming up in the 2010 Carnival, or better still see the details on the Main Stage line-up, the Palms Lawn Stage line-up and the New Frontier Dance Association Bootscooting Stage. You might also like to look at the 2009 Photo Galleries to see some of the action from last year. The 2010 Carnival Stallholders lists the groups you will be able to visit on 17 January, including where to find them on the day and a link to their website.
The Map of the Carnival Grounds will help you to pin-point the stallholders, stages, first aid post, food areas, bars, toilets, water taps and more. Check out how to register for Dulcie's Dog show, presented by Eagle Pack, if you're thinking of entering your dog.
Prior to Carnival get a copy of MCV which will have a handy reference to all things Carnival including maps, stage line-ups
and stallholder listings - or collect it at Carnival if there are any left!
Midsumma supports the {also} Foundation's Take Care Out There
campaign. We encourage you to play safe this Midsumma. Looking after
yourself, your friends and loved ones is an important part of enjoying
the festival. Remember to think and act safely - practising Safe Sex,
avoiding drug use and drinking responsibly.
At Carnival and T Dance on Sunday 17 January, the
Greyhound and Market bars will be operating and raising money for
Midsumma through a percentage of bar sales. With that in mind, patrons
are encouraged to buy at the bar in moderation. If you are bringing a
picnic along as part of your celebration please avoid glassware.
Cheers!
