Midsumma is proud to call Melbourne home. There is much to love about Melbourne. Just ask the locals. This sophisticated world city in the south-east corner of mainland Australia inspires a deep passion in those of us lucky enough to live here. We love its vibrant energy, staggering choice of restaurants, funky boutiques, café-filled laneways, cool bars, unbeatable galleries, luscious parks and village-like inner suburbs, each with its own special character.

Melbourne is Living the Arts every day. The City of Melbourne is committed to fostering an environment where the people of Melbourne can participate in the arts, where artists and creative industries are encouraged and where queer art and culture is valued and respected. An example of this is the MOts (Melbourne Outside the square) program, a multi-arts program planned for presentation at the Outgames in Copenhagen, Denmark, in July 2009.

The City of Melbourne has reinforced its commitment to being an inclusive and engaging city by supporting a Relationship Declaration Register. The Relationship Declaration Register launched on Monday, 2 April 2007 means couples of both mixed-sex and same-sex can now formally declare their relationships.

To apply to register your relationship, couples are required to read the guidelines, fill out an application form and visit the town hall to formally sign a certificate of declaration.
