14 Feb: Carnival Turf recycled in a new estate in Sunshine
We're delighted to announce that the turf that was laid in front of the main stage at Carnival has been replanted in a wetland area in Sunshine. We had originally been told that the turf would not be able to be recycled, as it would become too damaged. However, the Carnival patrons took great care of it, and the turf is now enhancing the entry area to the new estate. Midsumma received no payment for the recycled turf, however it's of great benefit to the council who received it, and we're delighted that it hasn't been wasted. The experience this year should enable the cost of laying turf in similar situations in future to be reduced, now that the Midsumma experience has shown that recycling of the turf is possible.
