City of Yarra
The City of Yarra plays a vital role in creating an environment in which arts and cultural activity continue to flourish. The Arts and Cultural Services Unit's mission is to work with communities, artists, organizations, business and government to achieve community well-being, economic strength and cultural vitality within Yarra, through involving local people, investing in local practice and supporting a shared sense of place. The offices of Midsumma Fstival are located within the City of Yarra at the picturesque Abbotsford Convent.
City of Stonnington
The housing stock alone, ranging from some of Melbourne's finest mansions to large blocks of public housing, is just one obvious indication of the community's contrasting lifestyles, aspirations and expectations. Stonnington boasts world class shopping precincts such as Chapel Street, Toorak Road, High Street and Glenferrie Road and is also home to Chadstone Shopping Centre, Victoria's premier regional shopping centre. The City of Stonnington's Chapel off Chapel is a proud Midsumma Festival Hub.
City of Port Phillip
The City of Port Phillip provides a range of services and advice to assist the Gay, Lesbian, Bi-Sexual, Transgender, Intersex (GLBTI) community. The council also works hard to provide our community with information on which to base its own thinking on these issues. Midsumma Festival Hub, Gasworks Arts Park is proudly located within and supported by The City of Port Phillip.
Victoria Police
Victoria Police Gay and Lesbian Liaison Officers (GLLO's) are specially trained in GLBTI issues. They have knowledge of GLBTI communities and are sensitive to the issues each community faces. GLLOs can assist by providing discrete, non judgemental advice and assistance in the reporting of crimes. GLLOs do not actively investigate the crime. By calling a GLLO, victims can discuss the incident then work out the most suitable process for the matter to be reported. Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission
The Commission’s role is to: - Help to resolve individual and representative complaints about:discrimination, sexual harassment and racial and religious vilification, by: offering a conciliation process that is confidential, impartial, free and simple - Provide education about equality of opportunity, racial and religious tolerance and human rights - Undertake projects and activities aimed at eliminating discrimination and racial and religious intolerance - Conduct research and provide legal and policy advice - Undertake specific functions in relation to the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities, |
