Abbotsford Convent

1 St Heliers St, Abbotsford

Just four kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD, and spread over 16 acres, Abbotsford Convent is Australia’s largest multi-arts precinct. We work collaboratively with artists and arts organisations across all art forms to present a year-round program of contemporary work that engages, surprises and delights audiences, encourages investigation and learning, and sparks important new conversations.

In 2022, we’re very much looking forward to offering up a spectrum of creative output for Midsumma audiences, ranging from dance parties to creative rope workshops to sculptures to lip-syncing wrestlers. Children and families can get involved with the microscopic playground that is Mini Beast Disco, or anyone 18+ can hang around until a little later before diving into the world of the Composting Cabaret, presented by Dandrogyny, Betty Grumble and Andreas Lohmeyer. We can’t wait to see you!

Hare Hole

63 Johnston St, Fitzroy

The Hare Hole is Melbourne’s home of emerging artists, hybrid art forms and queer ideas. For 30 years Hares & Hyenas has embodied queer community engagement, giving a platform to intersectional communities and artists to provoke, question and be heard. Its open content policy combined with its values of providing a welcoming space encourages work that is fresh, relevant and vitally important. Our 2022 Midsumma program brings together speakers, artists and performers from multiple disciplines and numerous identities—from the emerging to the familiar and established, from those embedded in the queer community to those who defy classification.
