Melbourne Pride 2021 - A Road to Pride

Melbourne Pride 2021 is a multi-generational and intersectional celebration; a State
Government initiative designed to celebrate and commemorate Victorian LQBTQIA+ history
and the 40th anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality with events and
activities all over the state of Victoria.

Melbourne Pride 2021 will be a large-scale, one-day street festival on 5 December 2021 in
the city's inner north and will be delivered by Midsumma.

This large-scale, family-friendly event will feature three stages located on the outer corners of the main precinct and an activation of Peel Street Park. The event will showcase live performances, music, circus, keynote speakers, activities, community stalls and interactive demonstrations. This event is intended to have a significant state-wide impact with live-streaming and pre-recorded content to allow people to engage from home. Street trader engagement is one of the key objectives of the event and local businesses will be open to trade as part of the event.

To ensure state-wide representation of this important celebration, funds are being made
available to directly encourage and facilitate involvement in activities either in the lead-up
to or on the day within a regional context.
We are planning, moving and shaking as quickly as possible, please keep this page bookmarked for updates, or subscribe to our enewsletter to be kept up-to-date.

Midsumma continue to work with the State Government to determine the safest way to deliver the event once current Victorian lockdown restrictions have been lifted. A detailed COVID-19 Safe Plan and COVIDSafe measures will be in place across the event precinct in addition to designated entry and exit points, zoning, contract tracing and COVIDSafe marshals.

As the anniversary approaches, we take the opportunity to acknowledge the courage and resilience of our LGBTQIA+ community. Melbourne Pride 2021 will commemorate the event with a once-off celebration. In a contemporary exploration of festivities, Melbourne Pride 2021 will embark on a journey of equality through inspirational arts, community involvement, food, and culture.

With the streets of Fitzroy coming alive as we celebrate the history and build on the momentum for equality.

Regional communities will also be soon invited to submit ideas and apply for support for engagement opportunities to ensure state-wide celebrations of PRIDE for this event across Victoria.

Melbourne Pride 2021 will be a multi-generational and intersectional celebration of Victorian LQBTQIA+ history and a commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the decriminalisation of homosexuality in Victoria.
