DRAG A THON
The world record holding non-stop drag event
The event that set a Guinness World Record in 2017 for presenting the longest ever non-stop drag show which ran for 36 hours, 36mins and 40 secs and featured 88 drag performers delivering 350 songs is coming back to the Midsumma Festival and this time it is concentrated.
The 86's annual 'day of drag' is back with 10 hours of drag starting with the popular afternoon 'open stage' where anyone can perform.
With the announcement from RuPaul that Drag Race heads down under in 2020 this is a calling card for anyone thinking of strutting and syncing their way on to the show to try out their look, spots and character on stage, under lights and to a live audience. Performers in the afternoon 'open stage' may also choose to take part in the competition where finalists throughout the day are invited back to be featured in the evening's main show. But if you simply just would like the opportunity to let your inner drag diva out and not actually be in competition for the 2020 Destined Drag Diva distinction, that is ok too.
To ensure you secure a performance time during the 'open stage' [spots are limited & fill quickly] you should pre-register your act via the website www.the86.com.au or you may arrive in face with music on USB and be on stand-by to fill the next vacant spot.
Finalists from the afternoon session return & battle it out in the evening show alongside the cast of the 'Fellas in Frocks' comedy drag show who will be performing a marathon 5 hour NON-STOP DRAG SHOW! Last year's evening headlining performers included Lexi Gaga, Missy La'Minx, Karen from Finance, Leasa Mann and Art Simone with the cast for 2020 announced closer to the event.
The event kicks off at 2pm with a FREE BBQ lunch for guests and performers before the stage goes live. There will also be prizes, audience participation and drink specials throughout the day.
Who will win the crown & cash in 2020? Will our headliners pull off another 5 hour non-stop drag show? Join us at The 86 to find out.
