Live from the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Midsumma Festival and Arts Centre Melbourne presents a diverse line-up of LGBTQIA+ artists and communities. So put on your best outfit, whether that be heels or pyjamas, and tune in for an unforgettable smorgasbord of the very best queer performances on offer.
This will live-streamed from the Midsumma Festival and Arts Centre Melbourne Facebook page and Youtube, giving everyone the opportunity to see this premiere event, and to ensure that Midsumma Festival Live at the Bowl is as accessible as possible for any audiences that may be vulnerable, regional or interstate, who want to be a part of the important connection that Midsumma Festival brings. The event will be Auslan interpreted as well as the livestream event assisted by captions.

Australia’s LGBTQIA+ arts and cultural experience, Midsumma Festival, in partnership with Arts Centre Melbourne are excited to introduce the inaugural Midsumma Festival Live at the Bowl. Celebrating diverse journeys and communities, Midsumma Festival Live at the Bowl will host a soirée of FREE queer live entertainment and a spectacular line-up of live performance, comedy and music live-streamed from the iconic Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Saturday 1 May.
The night will be hosted by the glorious Virginia Gay and Aysha Buffet, with performances from Mama Alto, Trevor Ashley, Deborah Cheetham, Rachel Dunham, Michael Griffiths, Reuben Kaye, Jackie Loeb and Johnny Manuel.
Feast your eyes, ears and loins on Melbourne's own foodie queen Aysha Buffet. A regular in Melbourne's queer nightlife, she is always serving you campery, comedy and a little slice of shade. She's constantly feeding the children, having recently filmed a show with ABC 'Gourmet Lazy', Aysha is always ready to serve a buffet of entertainment and fried chicken. So pull up a seat at the table because you are in for a rollercoaster of a feast!
Virginia is a queer icon after her star turn as Calamity Jane, and this year is set to do the same when she directs and writes her own version of Cyrano for MTC.
Mama Alto is a jazz singer, cabaret artiste & gender transcendent diva. Fierce, femme and fabulous, she has performed in theatre and festivals all over the world, and won countless awards for her angelic voice and radical storytelling.
