Night at the Museum is BACK! Join us online at 7pm on Saturday 9 April for a night of performances and LGBTQIA+ youth PRIDE broadcast live from the Immigration Museum!

There's also an IRL event on Wednesday 13 April - see Minus18's Day at the Museum.

About the digital event

Night at the Museum is BACK!

We're bringing this event to you online, so that all LGBTQIA+ young people can attend safely, no matter their location!

We'll be broadcasting LIVE from Immigration Museum, so expect a high res, unforgettable night of LGBTQIA+ performers, live music, new pals, community vibes, youth pride and QUEER EXCELLENCE. 🌈 That's right, team Minus18 will be on the ground at the museum, to bring you an incredible live show of LGBTQIA+ performances.

And depending on Covid restrictions where you're based, you might even be able to tune into our live broadcast with your pals – make it the most rainbow watch party ever!

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE DIGITAL EVENT

  • Saturday 9 April, 7pm - 10pm AEST (Melbourne time!)
  • For youth aged 12 to 19 only
  • Completely FREE
  • Get your pals together to host a Watch Party or tune in solo!
  • Expect special guests, live performances, prize giveaways, drag and LOADS more

HOW TO TUNE IN

We'll send you a Zoom link (twice!) on the day of the event. Check your email, it'll come through from Eventbrite. To get the best out of the event, we recommend tuning in from a laptop or computer, rather than your phone.

FAQs

I'm an adult that works for a youth organisation. Can I host a watch party for my youth cohort?

Absolutely! We'd love it if you organised a watch party. You can register for a ticket as a Youth Organisation by using the promo code: YOUTH ORG.

Download our handy Night at the Museum - Watch Party Guide for tips and tricks on how to make your event a success!

Please ensure you're hosting your gathering safely and within the guidelines of your state Government's COVID restrictions.

Is it safe?

Definitely. This is a youth event for young people aged 12 to 19. For the safety of our youth attendees, anyone who is above the age of 19 that tunes in will be removed. The Zoom event will be moderated by the Minus18 team, including trained Youth Workers. Attendees can message each other as a group, but will not be able to private message each other.

This is an alcohol, drug and smoke free event and though we won’t all be in the same room together, we’ll still be keeping an eye on everyone to make sure they’re adhering to this.

The event will be moderated by Minus18 youth workers.

If you have any questions about the safety or programming of this event, please reach out to Event Coordinator, Miller at [email protected].

Anything else I should know?

We love our digital events – they’re super fun, silly, wonderfully Pride-filled opportunities for our youth community to come together and connect. That said, the chat is fast-paced, the event is pretty loud, and things can get a little overwhelming! Think of it as a Digital version of one of our dance events.

Youth Workers will be available if you’re feeling unsafe, and it’s so fine if you need to tap out of the event for a break, then re-enter.

Accessibility

  • This event will be Auslan interpreted
  • There will be no strobe lighting, but some performers may use coloured lighting during their performance
  • Youth Workers will be moderating the chat and providing youth support
  • This is a drug, smoke and alcohol free event

You can have your video on or off during the event. Your microphone will be muted, but you can speak to attendees via the (wonderfully hectic) chat.

Minus18 acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which this digital event is happening – all over Australia. We acknowledge their continued connection and contribution to land, water and community, and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded; this always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
