Queer My Head Workshop - CANCELLED
by Jaye Hayes
Presented by Midsumma Festival's AND/OR program and the Dax Centre.
The Queer My Head exhibition celebrates the power of queer art-making to clear our heads of the pervasive cis-hetero-normative expectations and biases that contribute to mental health issues for the LGBTIQA+ community.
The Queer My Head art-making workshop offers LGBTIQA+ people an opportunity to participate in their own creative head queering.
No art experience necessary! The art-making processes offered will be fun, accessible and empowering. Enjoy an afternoon of art-making with others in a safe and accessible space for queer and gender diverse humans. Together we will explore, express, share and celebrate the diversity of our queerly embodied minds.
You will be offered a range of materials and guided in how to utilise bricolage, assemblage and collaging techniques to create a mixed-media self-portrait of your own uniquely queered head!
The workshop will be co-facilitated by Queer My Head curator and therapeutic arts practitioner, Jaye Hayes, along with guest artists from the Queer My Head exhibition.
- All art materials provided.
- Snacks, tea & coffee included.
- Auslan interpreters available.
- Wheelchair accessible.
This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body.
