Reconstruct (the) Normative
Fed Square’s Atrium will be transformed this Midsumma Festival into a moving exhibition of photographic portraiture by Australian photographer Soraya Zaman.
A constructed bridge will span the iconic space, as a metaphorical symbol of journey, connection and crossing over, which is intertwined with the subject of the exhibition.
Australian born photographer, Soraya Zaman (they/them) spent three years travelling across the USA, meeting and capturing images of people in the trans-masculine community, from big cities to small towns. Zaman’s sincere and tender portraits intuitively capture each subject, providing viewers with a snapshot into their lives and journeys across the trans-masculine spectrum.
Please be advised from 8pm onwards some of the content is rated M with adult themes.
"The binary days and the antiquated stereotypes of what it means to be born a girl or boy, are finally coming undone."
