REUNION: Embittered Swish

Embittered Swish, Curb Crawl, 2020, digital photographic print

An Exhibition by performance art vehicle Embittered Swish

The latest offering from performance art vehicle Embittered Swish, REUNION sees its members reunited after a period of indefinite separation. Coming together physically, virtually, and psychically, Embittered Swish meditates on the spoilt ashes of their dissolved collaborations, members finding themselves at a definite loss in the mutual contemplation of their alternately blurring, aimless and fugitive forms. The exhibition comprises installation, paintings, photography and soundscapes, building to a theatrical exploration of what it might mean to come together now and attempt to enact artistic gestures such as closure, uncovering, or the recuperation of past performative lifetimes.

  • REUNION: We invite you to play - devil’s advocate.
  • REUNION: no one showed.
  • REUNION: It’s stakes for dinner.
  • REUNION: If the band gets back together and there’s no one there to see it, is it even?
  • REUNION: In the dining room, with the lead pipe.
  • REUNION: Is that your X behind the curtain?
  • REUNION: We’re always coming together.

Embittered Swish is composed of Mossy 333, Romy Seven Fox, Mick Klepner Roe, Bobuq Sayed, and Ainslie Templeton.

Artist Talk and Performance: Sunday 14 February, 1pm

Join us online on Valentine’s Day for a special half-hearted live-streamed performance where members of Embittered Swish will activate the static scene of the exhibition REUNION for one afternoon only. Throwing a few goblets back and relieving the crockery of some of its burden, it will be a dinner party, of sorts, but with refreshments more waxen than waning. The performance with Mick Klepner Roe, Romy Seven Fox and Ainslie Templeton will be introduced with a live-streamed artist talk between Bobuq Sayed and Mossy 333 with curator Jake Treacy as they explore the exhibition, its intentions and themes.

This is a free online event delivered in two components:

  • 1pm: Artist Talk streamed on Zoom
  • 3pm: Performance streamed via Instagram @incineratorgallery

Register for the Artist talk

The artist talk and performance will be recorded and uploaded to the Incinerator Gallery website with closed-captions. More details:
