Midsumma arrives on the Mornington Peninsula celebrating community & creativity
For the very first time, Midsumma arrives on the Mornington Peninsula with a vibrant celebration of queer community, identity, and creativity.
Out Loud on the Ninch is a sunset event at the Peninsula Community Theatre, bringing together live queer performers and musicians alongside stalls offering resources and connections for the local queer community.
At the heart of the evening is the photographic exhibition You & I, a bold project celebrating queer pride across generations. Developed through an intergenerational exchange, ten queer young people aged 18–24 will work alongside ten queer elders in workshops led by local professional artists Noa Wolf Smith Fletcher and Roe Bonnici.
Participants will explore photography, portraiture, storytelling, and documentary practices while reflecting on their identities and community ties. The elders will share their lived experiences, wisdom, and resilience as collaborators and storytellers, creating powerful dialogue across generations.
The public exhibition will showcase these vivid images and stories, encouraging audiences to participate by writing letters about their own identity and pride. These letters will be professionally archived alongside the participants’ work.
Produced by Flinders Fringe Festival and supported by Mornington Peninsula Shire and Victoria’s Pride program, this is pride - spoken, shared, and woven through generations.
