Pali-Pali MiRi

Photo exhibition of Queer Mob in the Mallee
Pali-Pali MiRi means ‘pretty face’ in Paakantyi language, but the Mob featured in this photographic exhibition are so much more than just pretty faces. They are LGBTQIA+SB Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members from across the Mallee region. They’re a friend and a cousin; someone’s child or someone’s parent. They belong to the world’s oldest continuing culture. They are people with a story to tell; they deserve to be celebrated. And for this moment, in this time, they are the centre of the universe; their pali-pali miRi exalted by Kurnu Paakantyi artist Sian Harris in a powerful series of photographic portraits reflecting identity, belonging, culture, and community.
