COME AS YOU ARE, LGBTQIA+ Workshop Series

FAB FRENZY presents: COME AS YOU ARE, a FREE intergenerational creative workshop series led by local artist Daniel Newell (DANDROGYNY) in collaboration with Brophy Family & Youth Services, Switchboard - Pride in Ageing, and YUMCHA taking place in Warrnambool, VIC.
The series brings together LGBTQIA+ people and their allies of all ages to share space, stories and creative practice across generations.
Through playful, tactile workshops exploring costume, makeup, flora, portrait-making and imaginative play, participants are invited to connect beyond age, identity labels and assumed roles ~ valuing lived experience, listening and collective making.
"At its core, this program is about permission.Permission to show up without explanation, to participate loudly or quietly, and to be tender, awkward, camp, fruity or simply present. Come as you are! Rather than prioritising performance or outcomes, the workshops centre process, presence and mutual-care, recognising creativity as a superpower for relationship-building, confidence and community wellbeing."
- Daniel Newell
The weekend is intentionally amplified through the premiere of AM I ENOUGH, a documentary film by First Nations artist Sam Morris (M15+). The screening, followed by a Q&A, performances, DJs and dancing extends the invitation from making together to witnessing, reflection and collective celebration ~ honouring storytelling as a vital act of cultural exchange.
