"I am not a lesbian one moment and a person of color the next and a feminist at another. I am all of these at every moment." — Sara Ahmed.
I am a lesbian, a feminist, a woman of colour is a photography exhibition that explores the intricate connection between women through their bodies, emotions and relationships. Grounded in Sara Ahmed’s writing on identity as a constant and multifaceted experience, features large photographic prints alongside clusters of Polaroids and projected video. This layered presentation invites viewers to move through the space, shifting between still and moving images, private moments and shared narratives.
A community program accompanies the exhibition, including an artist talk and a performance. The talk will open space for conversation around queerness, feminism, and race, representation. The performance brings these themes into physical expression, focusing on intimacy, trust and connection.
