No Pride in Racism
A community panel on sexualised racism in LGBTIQA+ communities
LGBTIQA+ community leaders share their thoughts and perspectives on sexualised racism in the community. From fighting stigmatising language on apps and online dating spaces, to responding to microaggressions, and fetishisation of racial identities.
This panel will share experiences of queer people of colour, culture, and faith. This event is open to people of all racial and cultural backgrounds.
Speakers:
Tony Fretton – founder of Pacifique X (Formerly VIKA) is an active member of our Samoan diaspora and Melbourne community
Anastasia Le – A proud advocate and trans woman of colour Anastasia is host of Trans P.O.V on JOY
Abdurahman (Boudie) Katamish – co-founded an underground organization to help the queer community in Egypt, and was awarded GLOBE 2021 LGBTIQ Volunteer of the Year.
James Seow – A passionate group facilitator of Gay Asian Proud supporting social connection for gay, bi, and other queer Asian men in Melbourne
Oliver Zafar – Oliver has supported migrant and refugee LGBTIQA+ communities volunteering with Bridgemeals, Queer Refugees and Asylum Seekers Peer Support (QRASP) and the Forcefully Displaced People Network (FDPN)
