Oceanside Pride: Building the Wave

Growing Pride. Building Belonging.

Oceanside Pride: Building the Wave is a three-day creative residency bringing BEAT ENTERTAINMENT back to Portland to celebrate LGBTQIA+ creativity, connection and community.

Following the success of Portland’s inaugural Oceanside Pride, BEAT returns with a new program designed to put community at the centre. Across three days, participants will be invited to make, move, perform, create and connect through a vibrant series of workshops, mentoring and creative experiences.

From performance and storytelling to movement, creative making, leadership and producing Pride, the program offers opportunities to try something new, develop creative skills and build confidence in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

More than a series of workshops, Building the Wave is about creating belonging — bringing LGBTQIA+ people, allies, artists, young people and community members together to share ideas, celebrate identity and imagine what the future of Oceanside Pride can look like.

Led by BEAT ENTERTAINMENT, the residency builds on the relationships created through the inaugural festival while opening up new pathways for local creativity, leadership and connection.

Come as you are. Find your people. Make some magic. Build the momentum.
