Craft costumes & creatures in these cosplay workshops for queer teens
Ever wanted to bring a character to life? Worldbuilders is a brand-new cosplay workshop series for LGBTQIA+ teens, friends and allies (13-18), delivered in Bendigo this January.
Across several hands-on sessions, you'll be guided through a holistic character-building journey with professional artists.
Work with iconic cosplay designer Zoë Elizabeth to build costume pieces — think foam armour and tiefling horns — and learn prop and puppet-making techniques from Arena Theatre Company’s expert makers.
You’ll get the chance to design your own original creature companion to match your cosplay creation. Work alongside Arena’s animator to summon your familiar via augmented reality.
To finish, you’ll have the option to capture awesome pictures of your finished costume in a professional photoshoot.
Fill your summer with hands-on, imaginative magic, and meet other queer teens and allies from across Central Victoria. Delivered in partnership with headspace Bendigo, you’ll work alongside like-minded young folks from their LGBTQIA+ diversity groups.
Worldbuilders is produced by Arena Theatre Company, an acclaimed Bendigo-based company with 60 years' experience creating bespoke work for young people. Build real creative skills with real artists, and walk away with a costume, a creature and a whole new crew.
