Join Lilah Benetti [Queer PHOTO - Black and Blur] in this one-off conversation alongside host Atong Atem.
Shot on film, this series features portraits of migrant and Indigenous Black individuals, rooted in the unique context of what is commonly referred to as Australia. The word recognise that Blackness is far from a monolithic identity; rather, a mosaic of cultural, ethnic, and global Indigenous backgrounds, shaped and coloured by the unique contexts from which we emerge.
Lilah’s work speaks to the notion that when Blackness and Queerness intersect, the possibilities are endless, bound only by the ways in which we choose to represent ourselves - and our ideas of what it means to be self determinant. Our individual presence serves as a gateway to a safer future, one that reflects the potential of our collective futures—a future that is more tangible than we think.
