Queer PHOTO - Exquisite Corpse
Image: still from YOU, ME, ME, YOU, 2022, commissioned by Ikon, Birmingham and the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Sydney, 2022
Reflecting on her experiences as a person from two different colonies (Australia and Fiji), artist Salote Tawale takes Indigenous knowledge systems as a founding base.
This exhibition takes its name from the collaborative drawing game popularised by surrealist artists, who in turn, appropriated Oceanic objects and ideas. 'Exquisite Corpse' refers not only to this reclaimed methodology, but also the cumulative migrant experience.
