Join us for a screening of the award-winning documentary ‘Marungka Tjalatjunu (Dipped in Black)’ created by Derik Lynch and Matthew Thorne.
The film follows Yankunytjatjara queer artist Derik Lynch who takes a road trip back to Country for spiritual healing - a journey from the oppressive white city in Adelaide, back home to his remote Anangu Community (Apatula) to perform on sacred Inma ground.
‘Marungka Tjalatjunu’ won the Silver Bear Jury Prize (Short Film), a Teddy Award for best queer short film at the 2023 Berlinale and the 2023 Documentary Australia award at Sydney Film Festival.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with both Derik Lynch and Matthew Thorne, hosted by Myles Russell-Cook. Myles is a First Nations' curator of Australian and First Nations contemporary art at the National Gallery of Victoria.
