Queer PHOTO - So’otaga (Connection)
Image: courtesy the artist
So’otaga, meaning “connection” or “bond” in Samoan, is a love letter both to and from Leilani Fuimaono’s extended LGBTQIA+ Pasifika community, inviting viewers to engage with and reflect upon their own personal experiences of community and belonging.
Taken over a seven year period, Fuimaono’s works explore the delicate web of connection within Pacific Islander diasporas, and the depths of intimacy or alienation that can arise between those attempting to share space in intersecting micro-communities.
